Copyright & Takedown Policy

MarketUK.uk is committed to respecting the intellectual property rights of third parties. This Copyright & Takedown Policy sets out how we approach the use of images, media and other copyrighted material on our publication, and how rights holders can request the removal or correction of content they believe infringes their copyright. The policy applies to all content published on MarketUK.uk, whether produced by our editorial team or contributed by external sources.

Our approach to images and media

We use a range of visual assets across our articles, including:

  • Licensed images acquired from commercial stock photography services under valid agreements.
  • Press images and official promotional materials provided by companies, public relations firms and industry bodies for editorial use.
  • Approved company or product assets, such as logos, screenshots of official materials, and product images used with permission or under fair dealing principles.
  • Embedded public posts from social media platforms, where the original content is publicly available and the embed complies with the platform’s terms of service.
  • Original photography and screenshots created by our own journalists or commissioned from freelancers.

Wherever possible, we credit the source or copyright holder of every image or media file. Attribution is added either in an inline caption, a credit line adjacent to the asset, or in a note at the foot of the article. We do not knowingly use copyrighted material without permission or a clear legal basis.

Rights assessment before use

Before publishing any image or media asset, our editorial team reviews its provenance and licensing status. For third-party materials, we rely on the representations of suppliers, press release distributors and copyright owners. Where a licence is required, we ensure it covers the intended editorial use, territory and duration. We maintain records of licences and permissions for audit purposes.

How to submit a takedown or correction request

If you believe that any content on MarketUK.uk infringes your copyright, or that a credit is incorrect or missing, please contact our designated copyright team at copyright@marketuk.uk. We aim to acknowledge all valid requests within five business days.

To help us process your request promptly, please include the following information:

  • The full URL of the page where the allegedly infringing content appears.
  • A clear description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed.
  • Proof of your ownership of the copyright or your authority to act on behalf of the rights holder (for example, a copy of a registration certificate, a statement from the creator, or a signed letter of authorisation).
  • The specific reason you believe the use is not authorised (for example, no licence obtained, use exceeds scope of permission, or attribution is incorrect).
  • Your full name, email address and, if applicable, the organisation you represent.

Requests that are incomplete or lack sufficient evidence may be returned for clarification before we can act.

Our response

Upon receipt of a complete and valid request, we will review the material in question. Depending on the findings, we will take one or more of the following actions:

  • Remove the content from our site entirely.
  • Replace the asset with a suitably licensed or royalty‑free alternative.
  • Add or correct a credit line or attribution.
  • Amend the article to remove or modify references to the copyright work.

Where we believe the use is lawful (for example, under fair dealing for news reporting, criticism or review), we will explain our position and may offer to add an attribution or a note acknowledging the rights holder. In all cases, we will communicate the outcome to the requester in writing.

Image attribution

Attribution for images and media used in our articles is managed by our Standards & Fact‑Checking desk. If you have questions about a specific credit, or believe an attribution is missing or inaccurate, please contact sophie.kendall@marketuk.uk or use the general copyright email above. Our editorial team list, including further contact details, is available on the Our Team page.
